Welcome to Little Hay Ladies' Section
The
Ladies’ Section at Little Hay currently has 80 playing members. We are a very
friendly club with players at all levels and our philosophy is to ensure that new ladies
are welcomed into the club and encouraged to participate in all events and competitions.
We
hold regular club competitions every Monday and at the weekend for our business
ladies. During the qualifying season, which commences at the end of
February/beginning of March, we have a monthly medal which is usually held during the first week of the
month and a stableford or other competition, held during the third week of the month. During the
winter months we have a rest from qualifying competitions but do like to encourage as many
ladies as possible to continue to play by holding fun competitions, many of which are team
events.
During
the season, teams are selected to play in a series of friendly matches against
other local clubs. We also play 3 mixed matches during the summer against Batchwood Hall,
Redbourn and Stockwood Park. These are always great fun and very popular fixtures with the Men’s
and Ladies’ sections. We also play in a number of extremely popular events with our senior Men’s
section throughout the year.
With regard to the Men’s section, we play 4 midweek matches against the
men during the summer months, teeing off at 4.00pm. These are very popular fixtures and held in
good spirit. The ladies currently retain the trophy as we beat the men by 11 points this summer.
However, the men were very magnanimous in defeat treating us to the customary after-match supper.
There is also a mixed doubles knockout competition –
the Fred Roberts Trophy – which is held during the summer and there are various club competitions throughout the year, open to all sections of the Club.
As well as club competitions, we take part in various
competitions. Last year, two of our ladies took part in the national final of the UK
Public Courses Championship, held at the Eden Course, St Andrews. They both thoroughly enjoyed the
experience.
We are affiliated to the Herts County Ladies Golf Association
